Primary School>Assessment
Based on our Assessment Policy, our assessment practices are carried out in accordance with Ministry of Education legislations through PYP framework. In the PYP, assessment is seen as an ongoing process of gathering, analyzing, reflecting and acting on evidence of student learning to inform teaching.
With integrated assessment practice data about students' learning activities are collected. At the same time, students' knowledge, skills and conceptual understanding are supported in a planned and effective way, providing students with the opportunity to improve themselves. In assessment practices our students are subjects, so they grow up as individuals with advanced self-assessment skills. Our purpose of assessment is as follows:
-
To enable the learner community to identify and realize its existing potential,
-
To gather and present information about the student's development and learning,
-
To construct assessment methods and techniques considering students' individual differences,
-
To give students opportunities to evaluate themselves and their peers and share their findings with each other
-
To plan how teachers, students and parents can contribute to the students’ development by identifying students’ strengths and weaknesses
-
To give the learner community opportunities to display learner profile attributes.
In our school, various assessment strategies and tools are used to monitor learning, and in accordance with our national curriculum, written exams are also held in Grade 4 class level. Data from assessment are shared with related parties through student-lead portfolio presentations with which students share their whole learning process, progress reports with which both teachers and the student’s himself / herself assess and evaluate the student’s development, the PYP exhibition where Grade 4 share their understanding of some real life problems with the whole school community.
